A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 16 “Roar”

Day 16 of my Whole 30 is complete, and today was a good day.  I felt as good today as I have felt in months, and I have no doubt it is directly related to the changes I have put in place to follow the Whole 30 Challenge.

Today’s video reviews my day, challenges I had, a Health Tip, and of course a detailed review of what we ate!

As we move forward in the Whole 30 it’s important to keep your meals fresh and keep your appetite fulfilled.  In the last 1/3 of the 30 days it’s easy to get into a monotonous cycle with food, and you don’t want to get there.  After all, you want to incorporate as much of this program into your life long term as possible, and mixing up your diet is key to sustainability!

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 15 “Holiday”

Today is a great day because it is halfway on this Whole 30!  It was a good day from the stand point of energy, and that’s a good thing because it was a crazy day!

As usual today’s video includes how the day went, challenges, a health tip, and a detail of what we ate.  I have to say, a pretty basic day from the standpoint of food.  Was a “get through the day” kind of selection day!

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 14 “Under Pressure”

Hey everyone, hope you all had a wonderful weekend, I certainly did!  Today was a good Whole 30 day, and I hope this video conveys how things went for me.

Today’s video covers how my day went, the challenges I faced, a Health Tip on getting your sleep in every night, and of course a detail of what I ate.

One of my goals of this video series, and trust me, it’s NOT easy doing a video every day for 30 days!, is to show you what we eat so that you a) have ideas on what to eat and b) see that it’s not impossible!  I work long hours every week, I cook for two kids under 10, and I do it all after coming home from work…normally in around 30 minutes.  It takes planning, but it’s worth it.

Hang in there, tomorrow is half way!

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 13 “Celebrate”

Good day today guys!  I really enjoyed my morning and we had a wonderful dinner party tonight at the house.

In today’s video I discuss how to make a dinner party invite to a friend’s house work on your Whole 30, I discuss my health tip of the day about how cooking at home has to be the center of your health, and of course detail what I ate today.  And I must say, today was a GOOD food day!

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 12 “Walking on Sunshine”

Day 12, for many who do the Whole 30 this is the day things finally start to come together!  I certainly felt great today and I talk about it in this video.

The video includes a review of my day, a Health Tip on how to best approach RADICAL change to your diet and health, challenges of the day, and of course a detail of what we ate today!

Every day will continue to get better.  I’m so encouraged by the feedback I’ve been getting throughout all of my social media.  Did you know I also have a Blog at http://www.PaleoHikerMD.com.  I have tons of original blog posts about the Paleo diet and lifestyle, and even a growing collection of recipes that you should definitely try out.

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 11 “The Waiting”

Greetings all, and the wait till when you start to feel better is almost over!  In the next 24-48 hours the tides should turn in your favor and energy will return.  You are almost there!

In today’s video I discuss an unexpected benefit of this Whole 30 for me, challenges I faced today, a new hashtag that I developed for some of the longings you have during your Whole 30, and of course cover what we ate in detail.

In today’s health tip I discuss looking at your health like you approach your retirement account, which most care for better then their own bodies!

Congratulations in getting this far because you and I know it’s not easy.  Soon enough you will know what I already know, it’s absolutely WORTH IT!

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 10 “Sample in a Jar”

Ok guys, not the best video today, but I’m exhausted and need to go to bed!

Overall a good day, and fairly tasty meals. Just one of those days! The Whole 30 is not making me tired, I am simply tired from all the work I had to do today! Cap that on with getting up earlier than usual for a meeting, and I’m ready for some sleep!

Stay with it guys, it’s worth every day of hard work to get to the end and enjoy the fruits of our labor!

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 9 “Under Pressure”

Ok guys, we are almost 1/3 of the way home!  Today was a good day that stared with a little difficulty I talk about in the video…

Food was great today including a dinner whose recipes are courtesy of Michelle at NomNomPaleo.com, both her book and her iPad app were used today!  Two words for you, CRAB CAKES!

I also discuss the importance of a balance between the Paleo Lifestyle and traditional Western Medicine.  I have always been a strong believer in the fact that optimal health is not all about Paleo, or all about modern medicine, it is about melding those together in a way that is best for each individual.  As I said, I discuss that a little in today’s video.

Stay strong we are moving right along!

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 8 “I Can’t Get No…Satisfaction”

(Sorry guys, I messed up the video link this morning so I am reposting!)

Day 8 is now behind us, and it was a pretty good day! Being post-call my energy was a bit down, but I pressed on and in the end had a very good day.

I touch a little bit tonight on staying well hydrated. How can you tell if you are drinking enough? I’ll tell you my simply method that I share with my patients day to day.

You have to stick with me now, we are almost past the worst part of this journey and you don’t want to miss the pay off.

I saw today a new study in the Lancet that between 1990-2013 the worldwide incidence of Diabetes WENT UP 45%!!! Holy Cow! Why are we doing this? Why do we NEED to get others to join in? There is your answer folks…

A Physician’s Whole 30 – Day 7 “Oops I Did It Again”

Greetings everyone!  Hope everyone is well, and I hope for those doing the Whole 30 with us that you day went ok today.  In an effort to make these videos a bit more informative, I’m going to try to discuss common ways you can improve your overall health that fit in with the general framework of the Paleo Lifestyle.  Today we talk about sleep…

Can sleeping too little be bad for your health?  Absolutely it can, in fact I wrote a blog post HERE about just that!  The bottom line is sleeping less than you should can lead to a shorter life, and in today’s video we discuss a few reasons that is the case.  Moral of the story, don’t skimp on your sleep.

We also discuss an important question today…What happens IF you ACCIDENTALLY ingest something that is absolutely NOT Whole 30 compliant in the middle of your Whole 30?  Well, it happened, and I can tell you how we handle it.  And yes, it’s they correct way to handle it 🙂

Stay focused, keep things going and make these 30 days count!  Your life is like an investment portfolio you can either deposit into every day, or withdraw out of.  What did you do today?…Withdraw or INVEST!
